Stripes, denim and a hat...

Winter hasn't even allowed us a transition phase before darting right into spring. My next few posts will still be a bit wintery as the weather was when I shot them! But, you can always take off a few layers, pick cooler shoes and be inspired by the colours.

Carolien from Carolien and Ben Photography captured this outfit with a creative eye like only she can. We had so much fun at 012 Central Market in Pretoria, a real inner city gem!

The little hat traveled all the way from Norway and I just had to wear it! Ankle boots were one of winter 2015's hottest trends and added a more neutral element to this outfit. I love this striped top as it adds a modern edge to anything I pair it with.

Goodbye Winter!

As a last ode to the South African winter that died such a sudden death, I have decided to post this cosy winter outfit. I loved how the base colours of black and grey warmed up when I added a deep red scarf. The lovely shoes I borrowed from my cousin as they were a cooler alternative to boots.
When the day warms up, you can always delayer by taking off the scarf.

Orange and Stonewashed Denim

Winter can be a little dull at times and dampen your mood. That is why I loved adding the pop of orange to washed-out denim. There is nothing like colour to brighten your outfit and it is so easy to achieve: add a bright scarf or a bright lip to give yourself a little esteem booster.

Trade the heels for cute flats to obtain an even more casual look. I always try to repeat one colour in my outfit when I wear a few. In this case I added white accessories to complement the white blouse and let the orange do the talking.
